Parship, Europe’s leading matchmaking company recently conducted a survey which reveals what kind of relationship Europeans seek.

About half the singles in Britain seek a long term romance, 17 % look for casual relationships and the rest, 28 %, don’t wish to be involved in anything. These rates are averages; there are variations depending on age, and between men and women. It’s also interesting to notice that half of Britain’s singles has been online dating the past 12 months, while 36 % were users in 2005.

Online Dating in Eastern Europe

There isn’t much online dating statistics for Eastern Europe. However it’s a fact that in average 55% of the populations are women. Unfortunately the region is troubled with bad dating reputation caused by scam. So guys if you are heading for Eastern Europe stick to a serious dating website.

European Dating and Attractiveness

Another aspect of European dating statistics is lying and dishonesty. Earlier this year Logitech published a report showing that 58 % of all online daters in Europe have been lied to. So, what do they lie about? Number one is attractiveness, followed by weight. Italians seems to exaggerate the most since 72 % of the questioned said they hardly recognized their date. Dutch people are the honest online daters in Europe, “only” 48 % of the respondents didn’t meet what they expected according to online dating statistics.

These rates are exceptional high, and one can wonder why people lye when everyone knows that this “innocent bluff” will be revealed once you meet physically. Then off course, is it a disappointment for those being lied to and a new date is probably out of the question.

Webcams and Dating

Next question is; why the heck is Logitech doing European online dating surveys? Hmm, off course – webcams. Using a webcam is handy when you are dating online and knows that half of your online mates are, diplomatically said, barely identifiable when you meet them. Guess it’s no surprise that many Europeans agree with me, 54 % to be exact, say that a video call would influence their decision to say yes or no to a date. In fact some say that if the online mate doesn’t look good they don’t want to waste their time going on a physical date.

Don’t despair in case you don’t look like Angela Jolie or Brad Pitt and have a webcam. It depends on your personality. If you have an appealing personality go to France or Britain, personality is more important to them than other Europeans.

Finally back to the most honest European dating country, the Dutch – Nearly 25% of Dutch online daters say they are willing to have sex with their date if they like the look of him or her on the webcam.
